KANCHI
Active since 2005 on the electronic scene and producer for more than 10 years, Kanchi explores music at the crossroads of genres. Sound designer by trade, he puts his talent at the disposal of advertising music for brands or even short-film soundtracks. It is with his album Velvet Chipset (2011) that he delivers us a broken electronic music. Its aspirations evolve at the rate of its projects. He returned to the forefront in 2012 with the EP dupstep and grime Backbone, then in 2014 with Omeyad, a project with glitch hop and trap influences. His latest EP Blossom with future bass influences retraces his travels with a project tinged with bewitching and captivating layers. After multiple collaborations, he officiates in a duet with the Manchester rapper Robinson with whom he released Risky and is preparing a first EP.
ROBINSON
Franco-British rapper and beatmaker, Robinson embodies the new generation of Manchester rappers. Coming from this scene which skilfully mixes hip hop with dubstep, or drum’n’bass, Robinson will bring an innovative flow with hard-hitting lyrics. He develops a raw rap, both provocative and sensitive, with influences from New York boombap and Atlantic trap. Influenced by the United States since his arrival in hip hop, he continues to explore the genre and its roots, incorporating soul and rnb elements into dark, bass-driven music. Fed up with Nas rap and explosive Manchester parties, Robinson is considered the nephew of Nas and Foreign Beggars. It was with the beatmaker Kanchi that he developed a new genre combining UK and American hip hop with the young generation of French beatmakers.
RISKY
Each month, the hip-hop label Galant Records plants a new musical seed. A meeting between a beatmaker and a rapper who gives birth to an exclusive creation. In June, make way for the Seeds #10 !
Used to working together, the Lyon duo Kanchi X Robinson continues their experimentation with hip hop and electronic music by offering a new approach to grime and trap with the title Risky which inaugurates Seeds #10. Behind this combo, we find Kanchi. Ultra prolific beatmaker in bass music, as well as Robinson, a young MC straight from the explosive rap scene in Manchester. Together, they navigate easily through the multiple facets of electro to bring out hybrid productions, mixing trap, dubstep, dnb with future bass, carried by the inimitable flow of Robinson.
After the noticed Bunker and Simple Man, Robinson & Kanchi offer a fragment of what their upcoming EP may contain by delivering Risky, an unreleased track. With his atypical voice, the English rapper Robinson takes stock of human and social relationships with a powerful text on a powerful production by Kanchi. By leaving Risky, the pair is in line with Foreign Beggars, Action Bronson, Futuristic or even Skepta to bring new energy to French hip hop.
